Some Sad News

I am not sure how many people have heard about my mom, so I decided that since my blog is private and only open to friends and family, I would post an update on what has been going on.
Over the past couple years, my mom has been having difficulty with her memory and some problems with some motor functions (her left arm and hand are almost non functional). My sweet dad has taken her to doctor after doctor in Idaho Falls, all to find out nothing. We knew that something was seriously wrong. My sister-in-law is a nurse at the University of Utah hospital and was kind enough to help us get her into the Alzheimers/Dementia clinic for an appoitment. Finally we were able to get some answers. After a few tests and what seemed like an eternity of waiting, we were able to get her diagnosis last week. She was diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimers. She is 53.
We are all heart broken. She is handling this so well and is such a great example to all of us. I can't even begin to imagine what she is feeling and how difficult this is to deal with, but she is so positive and happy. We are so proud of her for her great attitude. We are hopeful that she will be able to get on some medication to help slow the progression of the disease. We know that there are going to be tough times in the future, but we are excited for the time we have to spend with her and want to make the most of every day. Thanks for all your concern and prayers in her regard.

How Depressing!

Last Sunday we were out taking a walk and enjoying the nice weather. Last week we even got the bikes out and went for a bike ride. All the snow was melted and the tulips (well the neighbors tulips) were starting to grow. We knew that it was going to snow on Monday, but what the heck - 20 inches?? Are you kidding me! Crae is loving it more that any normal person should, but seriously, we were ready for Spring. I blame Crae for all my crankiness associated with this depressing snow!!!

Jaycie and Allie's Sleep-over

My girls love to bring their mattresses from their beds into the living room and have a sleep-over. We have to limit this to about once a week for obvious reasons. They never stop talking, or jumping off the couches onto their mattresses. Then it turns into a tattling fest with them taking turns coming into our room telling us that the other one is talking. It is an enjoyable time for Crae and I too!! :)
This went on for a good hour!

Are they really calming down? Never!!

Finally Allie gives in and we find her on the couch like this. And yes, for all of you who are wondering - this is the exact Care Bear that I have had since the first grade. (It was the only thing I have ever won. I just can't get rid of it.) It is one of Allie's closest friends and has to come with us in the van quite frequently!!

I just had to add this one. This is Allie watching a movie with Cuddles, our OUTSIDE cat. I couldn't even get upset that the cat was in the house - this was too cute!
